Candy Sushi Candy Sushi is a colorful DIY treat made from fruit roll-ups, puffed rice cereal and melted marshmallows. Candy Sushi is a new snack that combines the style of sushi with the sweet appeal of candy. This tasty tray contains a variety of sour and sweet candies styled to look like popular Japanese fish fare. You can cook Candy Sushi using 4 ingredients and 6 steps. Here is how you cook that.

Stir rice cereal into marshmallow mixture until evenly coated. A fun candy treat to make for a themed party - to pull kids in and inspire imagination! From the RR archives. ;) Maybe for a Japanese dinner party when the kiddos may not eat sushi with you--this might help them participate for dessert? Or just a fun kids party--or even Halloween. ;) I haven't tried these yet, so I guessed on the times, but will update once I do.

Candy Sushi step by step

  1. Roll flat the rice crispy bar.
  2. Place the fruit roll up flat. This will be like the Nori in a sushi roll. Any type will do, we used a rainbow colored for visual effect.
  3. The flattened rice crispy bar goes on top of the roll up. Trim the excess roll up..
  4. The licorice middle is next. I like the pull n peel because it's easier to customize the size. I've found peeling a little less then half works best. Cut the length to fit the roll. Add the Swedish fish or any other gummy smile you like..
  5. Roll it all up tight. The rice crispy bar makes it all stick well..
  6. Slice into segments. I find 8 peaces per roll is about right. Small enough that it fits in your mouth..

If you want to make candy sushi out of Swedish fish, lay out several strips of thin, flat candy, like Fruit by the Foot. Cut a mini-donut in half, but don't cut all the way through. Then, carefully pull the marshmallow until you can lay it flat, with both halves still connected. The candy sushi is so yummy and fun it will be a gift they'll remember. Best of all, the candies taste as good as they look!
